Convert a TSB PDF statement to Sage

Drop your TSB PDF below and get three plainly named columns — date, amount and description — ready for Sage's import screen to match up. Your statement never leaves your computer.

What you get

The download is a .csv file with these columns, in this order:

  1. Date
  2. Amount
  3. Description

Worth knowing. Sage products differ, and its import asks you to match each column to a field rather than demanding fixed headings — so these three are named plainly to make that step quick. If your version of Sage offers a QIF import instead, that route needs no mapping at all.

How to download your TSB statement as a PDF

  1. Log in to TSB internet banking.
  2. Select the account and open statements.
  3. Choose the statement period.
  4. Download the PDF.

Banking apps rename their menus from time to time, so the exact wording may differ slightly. You are looking for the original PDF statement rather than a printout or a screenshot — a printed copy sometimes loses the table structure the converter reads.

How to import it into Sage

  1. In Sage, open the bank account you are importing into.
  2. Find the option to import or upload a statement.
  3. Choose CSV as the file type and select the download.
  4. Match the three columns to Sage's date, amount and description fields — they are named to make this obvious.
  5. Confirm the import and reconcile as usual.

Accounting packages move their menus around between releases, so these are written to describe what you are looking for rather than an exact path.

Notes for TSB statements

Multi-page statements are handled in one pass. TSB has not yet been checked against a real file, so check the figures on the results page before paying.

Why the conversion happens in your browser

A bank statement lists your income, your address, your spending and your account number. Most converters ask you to upload that to their servers and keep it there. This one reads the file locally instead, so there is no copy of your statement anywhere but your own machine — and nothing that can be breached later.

Common questions

Which Sage products does this work with?

Any Sage product that imports bank transactions from a CSV. Because Sage asks you to match the columns during import rather than requiring exact headings, a simple three-column file suits the range of them.

Should I use the CSV or the QIF export for Sage?

If your Sage version offers a QIF import, that is the more direct route — QIF carries the fields already labelled, so there is nothing to map. Use this CSV where the import screen expects a spreadsheet.

Money in and money out are separate columns on my statement.

They are combined into one signed Amount column here: money out is negative, money in positive. That is the shape a single-amount import expects.

Is my TSB statement uploaded to convert it?

No. The PDF is read by JavaScript running in your own browser, and there is no endpoint on this site that can receive it. You can watch your browser's network tab while it converts and see that nothing carrying the file leaves.

How do I know the figures are right before I import them?

Where your TSB statement prints a running balance, every amount is re-checked against it and you are told how many rows that covered. Anything that could not be read safely is listed separately and left out of the file rather than guessed at. Check both before importing into Sage.

What does it cost?

One page credit converts one page, and five are free on your first visit. If a statement is longer than your balance covers, the opening pages convert free as a preview so you can see whether it reads your layout before paying. Nothing is charged when a conversion fails.
