Convert a Commonwealth Bank PDF statement to Xero
Drop your Commonwealth Bank PDF below and get a CSV using Xero's own bank statement import headers, so the import screen matches the columns up without you mapping anything by hand. Your statement never leaves your computer.

These appear on your statement but couldn't be read safely, so they've been left out rather than guessed at. Enter them by hand from your PDF.
- Never uploaded
- Done in seconds
- Checked against your balances
Works with most bank statements containing selectable text. Scanned statements and photographs of paper cannot be read.
What you get
The download is a .csv file with these columns, in this order:
*Date*AmountPayeeDescriptionReferenceCheque Number
Worth knowing. Dates are written British style, dd/mm/yyyy. If Xero asks which date format the file uses, pick that one — left on the American default, 06/07 reads as 7 June instead of 6 July.
How to download your Commonwealth Bank statement as a PDF
- Sign in to Commonwealth Bank NetBank or the app.
- Open the account and find statements or documents.
- Choose the statement period you need.
- Download the PDF — not a print or a screenshot.
Banking apps rename their menus from time to time, so the exact wording may differ slightly. You are looking for the original PDF statement rather than a printout or a screenshot — a printed copy sometimes loses the table structure the converter reads.
How to import it into Xero
- In Xero, open the bank account you want the transactions in.
- Find the option to import a statement on the account's manage menu.
- Upload the downloaded CSV.
- Check the column mapping — the headers are already the ones Xero expects, so it should match automatically.
- Confirm the import and reconcile as normal.
Accounting packages move their menus around between releases, so these are written to describe what you are looking for rather than an exact path.
Notes for Commonwealth Bank statements
Australian statements write dates day first, the same as British ones, so the date handling here is the well-trodden path. AUD prints as "$" though, so unless the statement names the code the export may label amounts USD. It has not been checked against a real Commonwealth Bank file, so use the free preview and the balance cross-check on the results page before unlocking anything.
Why the conversion happens in your browser
A bank statement lists your income, your address, your spending and your account number. Most converters ask you to upload that to their servers and keep it there. This one reads the file locally instead, so there is no copy of your statement anywhere but your own machine — and nothing that can be breached later.
Common questions
Do I have to map the columns myself?
No. The file is written with the header names Xero looks for, including the asterisks on the two required columns, so the mapping screen comes up already matched.
Money in and money out are separate on my statement — how does that work?
Xero takes a single signed Amount column, so the two sides are combined into one: money out is negative, money in positive.
Is my Commonwealth Bank statement uploaded to convert it?
No. The PDF is read by JavaScript running in your own browser, and there is no endpoint on this site that can receive it. You can watch your browser's network tab while it converts and see that nothing carrying the file leaves.
How do I know the figures are right before I import them?
Where your Commonwealth Bank statement prints a running balance, every amount is re-checked against it and you are told how many rows that covered. Anything that could not be read safely is listed separately and left out of the file rather than guessed at. Check both before importing into Xero.
What does it cost?
One page credit converts one page, and five are free on your first visit. If a statement is longer than your balance covers, the opening pages convert free as a preview so you can see whether it reads your layout before paying. Nothing is charged when a conversion fails.
